The FIFA Club World Cup trophy will be at stake when Manchester City and Copa Libertadores holders Fluminense face each other in Saudi Arabia on Friday evening.
Manchester City's debut in this competition earlier this week in the semi-finals went exactly as they would have wished. After last weekend's draw with Crystal Palace in the Premier League, where the Citizens squandered a two-goal lead, a reaction was needed. It looked like the first half would end in a draw, but an own goal from Marius Høibråten gave City a lead just before half-time. Goals from Mateo Kovačić and Bernardo Silva in the second half made it 3-0.
Fluminense also went into their own semi-final clash with African Champions Al Ahly on the back of some disappointing performances in the Brazilian top flight. Fernando Diniz's side had lost two league games in a row, conceding a total of four goals in the process, but will fancy their chances against Man City on Friday after their display against Al Ahly last time out.

Manchester City had the joint-best defence in the English top flight last season, but have lacked that stability in defence this season. The Citizens have conceded the second most goals of any team in the current Premier League top four and managed just one clean sheet in their last nine games in all competitions. Only two of those games have ended with under 2.5 goals.
Fluminense have shown resilience in defence in recent games, keeping a clean sheet in half of their last six games, but Man City are a much stronger opponent. Pep's men have scored at least twice in six of their last seven games in all competitions and that is unlikely to change this week.

Kevin De Bruyne made a surprise appearance in Manchester City training on Monday, but the Belgian is not expected to feature for the Citizens until next year.
The 32-year-old is joined on City's injury list by Erling Haaland and Jérémy Doku, who are nursing a bone and muscle injury respectively.
Having scored his first goal for the Sky Blues in the semi-final, Mateo Kovačić will hope to keep his place in midfield, while Julián Álvarez may return to the final third.
