- Venue: Coliseum (Getafe)
After clinching their spots for Copa del Rey 1/16 Finals in surprisingly close games against Tercera teams, Getafe and Valencia will face off at the Coliseum in Getafe in the 16th round of La Liga.
Getafe finished 15th for three seasons in a row, very close to the relegation zone. However, the current season has been very good for the Azulones, as they currently hold the 10th place with 19 points, already ten points above the danger zone. Even though many football experts and coaches in La Liga criticize their aggressive and "gritty" style of football, that is paying off, and we shouldn't expect them to back away from it.
Valencia are coming to this season after a very poor last one, when they finished 16th, just two points away from the relegation zone. But the Bats have been constantly underperforming for more or less under the new owner, Peter Lim, who took over the club in 2014. Right now, Valencia are 9th, and although it is still early, the Europen spots are slowly slipping away. At the moment, they are already seven points away from the desired 6th place.
Getafe vs Valencia pick: Getafe to (AH 0) win
With a 2:0 loss in the previous round against Las Palmas, away from home, Getafe stopped their nine-game unbeaten run (eight in La Liga). But Getafe received a red card early in the second half, and that might be one of the key reasons for the eventual loss. This season, Getafe have been exceptional at the Coliseum, and still haven't lost a game in eight rounds while facing some great teams like Barcelona and Real Betis.
Just like Getafe, Valencia have been exceptional at home but terrible away from it. From 19 points won overall, 13 of them (almost 70%) were won at Mestalla. Their only road win this season, in eight La Liga rounds, was against Sevilla in the first game. We do not think they are capable of stopping that winless streak against a really good home team in Getafe. Also, Valencia have been in poor form in La Liga, winning just one point in the last three rounds, with a 7:2 goal difference. Yes, they faced good competition, but it is still a terrible stretch of games.
In the previous season, these teams met twice, with both teams winning their home games. Additionally, Valencia haven't won in the Coliseum in over five years. The last time that happened was in November 2018.
Considering the previous h2h games, the difference in form, Valencia's poor road record, and a home-pitch advantage for Getafe, we believe that the Bordalas's side will secure all three points at the Coliseum.

Getafe team news
A starting central defender, Omar Alderete, received a red card in the previous La Liga game vs Almeria and will miss the upcoming game. With him out, we might see Domingos Duarte start as a central defender, along with Gaston Alvarez and Djené.
Another problem for Getafe's defensive line will be the suspensions of starting full-backs/wing-backs, Diego Rico and Damián Suárez. Both collected their fifth yellow card and will serve one-game suspension vs Valencia.
The team should have no new injuries. Mauro Arambarri, Enes Unal, and Jose Angel Carmona, who have already missed previous games, will remain sidelined.
For this match, coach Jose Pepe Bordalás will have an extra motive to win because Valencia sacked him (in June 2022) before rejoining Getafe.

Valencia team news
A starting left full-back and a team's captain, Jose Gaya, will miss the game due to a muscle injury he sustained against Celta Vigo two rounds ago. The 28-year-old should return to the field around mid or late December.
Andre Almeida, who suffered an injury in early October, will also remain sidelined. Even though he started training with the team, he is still not 100% ready and will not play against Getafe.
After a close 1:0 win over Arosa, coach Rubén Baraja was satisfied they advanced to the next round of Copa del Rey. He praised striker Roman Yaremchuk after the game and hinted that the 28-year-old loanee from Club Brugge could get more playing time in the upcoming games.
