On Tuesday evening, two teams that snapped their winless streak after the international break, Coventry and Plymouth, will face off at Coventry Building Society Arena in Coventry in the 18th round of the Championship.

After dealing with some financial troubles and getting relegated to League Two in 2017/18, Coventry City slowly worked their way up and were super close to reaching the Premier League. The Sky Blues reached the playoff finals last season but lost to Luton Town after a penalty shootout. However, this season started terribly for Coventry, as they are 20th with 19 points, seven away from the relegation zone.

Plymouth won the League One title last year and reached the Championship after a 13-year wait. In the current season, the Pilgrims are 19th with the same number of points as their next opponent, Coventry. The primary reason for their bad start to the season is their poor away record.

Coventry vs Plymouth pick: Coventry to win

Coventry won the previous game 3:0 vs Millwall, ending their six-game winless streak. During that period, the Sky Blues won only two points, but, to be fair, they were probably a better team in all those games and deserved more from those matches. Now, after finally breaking that poor streak, we think they could go on a good run and move closer to the playoff spot where they belong.

Plymouth won just twice in the last nine games, but both of those wins came at home. On the road, the Pilgrims are having major problems as they lost five of eight matches and are one of the only three teams without a road win so far.

Neither team have been impressive so far, and even though they are tied on the league's table, we think Coventry showed us a lot more throughout the season. Also, considering Plymouth's terrible road record, we believe the Sky Blues are much closer to winning this match.

Coventry team news

Kasey Palmer and Fabio Tavares should remain sidelined due to long-term injuries. But besides them, the team should have no new injuries or suspensions, and we expect the same starting eleven as in the previous game vs Millwall.

After an impressive 3:0 win over Millwall, coach Mark Robins was satisfied. He said they played well in the previous games but couldn't secure good results, and their confidence dwindled. "You could see the signs are there, and we've got a really good group. They're all working for each other, and that will get better," the coach added.

Plymouth team news

A starting striker, Ryan Hardie, suffered a muscle injury against Ipswich and missed the previous three games. The 26-year-old Scotsman will most likely miss the upcoming game as well. Hardie scored six and assisted on three goals in the Championship. Besides Hardie, the team will miss Saxon Earley, who missed almost the entire season with an ankle injury.

After a 2:0 win against Sunderland, coach Steven Schumacher talked to the press. He was satisfied with a win and said the home form is really important for them, and when they play with good energy, they are a match for anyone. The coach singled out Morgan Whittaker, saying he is an incredibly talented player who is constantly scoring and creating goals.
