Champions League actions returns to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu this Wednesday as Real Madrid takes on Serie A champions Napoli.

Boasting a 100% winning record from four games played in Group C, Real Madrid can secure top spot in the section with a draw or better. For Napoli, four points clear of third-placed Braga, the stakes are a little higher with the Neopolitans still looking to secure their place in the round of sixteen.

However, picking up a positive result could prove a tall order for the Italians with Real Madrid in particularly strong form at home in 2023. Los Merengues have won 13 and drawn three of their last 16 matches at the Bernabeu since April. 

Carlo Ancelotti´s side have a similarly consistent record in home UCL matches over the past couple of years with 11 wins and just one loss in 13 home fixtures. 

Real can expect a tough night though with Napoli arriving in Spain in great away form in recent weeks. The Serie A champions have won their last five road fixtures while they are unbeaten in nine matches on their travels this season. 

Of course, Los Merengues claimed a thrilling 3:2 win when these sides met in Naples earlier this season and considering recent form, another similarly exciting contest should be expected. Napoli have seen BTTS in four of their last five matches while Real have seen the same outcome in four of their last seven fixtures over the past month.

While Real will be backed to claim the points, and a home win does seem the likeliest outcome, I expect a confident Napoli to arrive with fire in their belly as they seek to secure qualification for the knockout phase. With the hosts already qualified, Walter Mazzarri´s side certainly have more to play for, and I expect the visitors to at least get on the score sheet.
