Braga comes into matchday five with hopes still alive of a first-ever appearance in the Champions League knockout phase. While four points behind second-placed Napoli in Group C, the Portuguese side could close the gap on Wednesday with the Italians in Spain to face Real Madrid. 

Should results go Braga´s way on Wednesday, Artur Jorge´s side could close the gap to just a point with a last-day trip to Napoli still to come. Still, a win at the Estádio Nacional is a must if the hosts are to maintain their qualification chances. 

Braga have been in good form in recent months with just two defeats in their last 12 matches since mid-September. Both of those defeats came against Real Madrid. Outside of those fixtures, Jorge´s men have won eight matches including a 4:1 win against Portimonense at the weekend. 

Visiting Union have no such form to speak of and they arrive in Portugal currently in the midst of their worst-ever run of form. Remarkably, after a fourth-placed finish last season, the Bundesliga side have now failed to win any of their last 15 matches with only two draws achieved during that miserable sequence. 

Having now sacked long-serving boss Urs Fischer, Union finally broke their nine-game losing streak in the Bundesliga at the weekend. A late strike from Kevin Volland claimed a much-needed point against Augsburg. 

In the UCL, Union have yet to win any of their first four matches, although they did manage to pick up their first point in Naples last time out. That draw was the only game the Berlin side did not lose in their last eight road fixtures.

With Braga desperate for the win that could keep them in the hunt for the last sixteen, and boasting a strong home record in European competition, I´m backing the hosts to claim the points on Wednesday.
