The runners-up and third-placed teams in Group B of the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League group stage meet on Thursday evening as AEK Athens host Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.
After missing out on a place in the group stage of a European campaign in each of the last two seasons, AEK Athens have not had the results they would have hoped for on their return this season. The Greeks got off to a great start in Group B however, as they beat Brighton 3:2 in England. On matchday two, the Yellow and Blacks drew with Ajax, but were completely outclassed in their last two games in the group, losing both and conceding a total of five goals. All hope is not lost for coach Matías Almeyda, however, as a win against Brighton on Thursday could put his side in a good position to finish in the top two.
While Athens are competing in the group stage of a European competition for the first time in three years, Brighton are appearing on the European stage for the first time ever. The Seagulls had a fantastic start to the season domestically, picking up five wins from their last six league games, but that kind of start was not enjoyed in Europe. Roberto De Zerbi's men needed to respond after picking up just one point from their opening two Group B games, and they did so by registering back to back wins against Ajax.
AEK Athens vs Brighton Betting Tips: Both teams to score
Athens have had virtually no problems scoring goals in recent weeks as the Greeks failed to score in only two of their last seventeen matches in all competitions. Bets on the "both teams to score" option were won in eleven of those games.
Brighton's biggest weakness this season has been their defence. The Seagulls have yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this season and across all competitions, Roberto De Zerbi's men have kept a clean sheet just twice in their last ten games. Both teams scored in eight of those fixtures.

Brighton team news
Lewis Dunk was shown a straight red card for dissent towards Anthony Taylor in Brighton's win over Nottm Forest in the Premier League last weekend but that will not result in a suspension in Europe.
Mahmoud Dahoud was absent from that game due to suspension following his red card against Sheffield United before the international break, but the midfielder will be available on Thursday.
Nevertheless, Roberto De Zerbi will be without three players: Kaoru Mitoma, Danny Welbeck, Julio Enciso and Pervis Estupiñán, who are all suffering from injuries.
