On Sunday evening, two Catalonian teams, Barcelona and Girona, will face off at Estadio Olímpico Lluís Companys in Barcelona. 

Due to financial problems, Barcelona are going through some kind of transition period, but by relying on their academy and good free transfers, they are staying relevant. Yes, they won the last La Liga title last season, but it is evident they are not at the level we are used to for the Catalan team. In the last two seasons, they failed to come out of the group phase of the Champions League, which was unthinkable a few years ago. This season, Barca are doing fine as they already secured the next phase in the UCL and are solid in the domestic league as well. They are in 3rd place but only four points away from the first two teams, Real Madrid and Girona.

Girona are playing a sensational season, and most football fans worldwide hope they can recreate Leicester's 2015/16 season. No one expected such a good season for the popular Blanquivermells, but they are keeping up with the best teams in Spain. Since we are almost at the half of the season, we can't credit their success to luck or some kind of hot streak. Currently, with 38 points, Girona are tied with Real Madrid for the top spot in the league. 

Barcelona vs Girona pick: Girona to cover the +1 AH spread

Barcelona had mixed results in the previous month and a half as they won "only" four of seven games in all competitions. Yes, they won back-to-back games against FC Porto and Atletico Madrid, but we cannot say they were impressive in those games. Generally speaking, Barcelona are not clinical for a long time, and because of it, they haven't had a game where they won by two or more goals in the past 14 matches. So, expecting a win by two goals against a very good Girona team is pretty unrealistic. 

Girona are playing great this season. Their only loss this season came against Real Madrid around two months ago. Still, that loss did not affect the team, and they continued to play spectacularly, winning eight of the next nine games in all competitions. 

In the previous h2h game at Camp Nou, we saw a goalless draw. With everything above taken into account, we firmly believe Girona are capable of securing a positive result at Estadio Olímpico Lluís Companys.
